A Detailed Day-by-Day Psoriasis Treatment Example

Consistency is one of the most important parts of psoriasis care. The example below shows how Psoriva Oil, PsoriaStop, prescribed topical treatment and three weekly NB-UVB sessions can be organised during the first month.

Your first-month routine

  • PsoriaStop: take 1 capsule daily with water after breakfast, following the directions on the product label.
  • Psoriva Oil: apply a small amount to dry and scaly plaques two or three times daily as needed, especially after washing and after an NB-UVB session.
  • Before NB-UVB: approximately 30 minutes before treatment, massage a thin and even layer of Psoriva Oil into the plaques. Allow it to absorb fully and do not leave a thick, wet or dripping layer on the skin.
  • Prescription topical treatment: if prescribed, apply it separately from NB-UVB and Psoriva Oil, usually after the session or before bed, exactly as directed by your doctor.
  • NB-UVB treatment: complete three sessions each week, for example on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, leaving at least one full recovery day between sessions.

Example week: Monday to Sunday

Below you will find the complete morning, treatment and evening routine for each day.

Monday – Session 1

Morning

Take 1 PsoriaStop capsule after breakfast. Apply Psoriva Oil to dry plaques if needed.

Skin care and NB-UVB

Apply a thin layer of Psoriva Oil 30 minutes before NB-UVB and massage it in thoroughly. Allow the oil to absorb. The skin should not remain wet and the oil should not be dripping from the treated area. Use the starting exposure time and treatment distance stated in your lamp instructions. If following the standard example in this protocol, the first adult exposure is 30 seconds.

Evening

If the skin feels dry after treatment, apply Psoriva Oil again. Use prescribed topical treatment separately, usually before bed, exactly as directed.

Tuesday – Recovery day

Morning

Take 1 PsoriaStop capsule after breakfast. Check the plaques for their reaction to Monday's treatment.

Skin care and recovery

No NB-UVB treatment. Apply Psoriva Oil two or three times during the day as needed to soften scaling and relieve dryness. Do not scratch, peel or forcibly remove scales.

Evening

Continue using Psoriva Oil as needed. Apply prescribed treatment at the time directed by your doctor.

Wednesday – Session 2

Morning

Take 1 PsoriaStop capsule after breakfast. Check that the skin has fully recovered from Monday's treatment.

Skin care and NB-UVB

Apply a thin layer of Psoriva Oil 30 minutes before NB-UVB. If there was no redness after Monday's treatment, increase the exposure time by 20 seconds, provided this type of adjustment is permitted by your lamp instructions. If mild redness occurred and disappeared within 24 hours, the next exposure may also be extended by 20 seconds according to the treatment protocol.

Evening

Apply Psoriva Oil to the plaques after treatment if needed. Use prescribed topical treatment separately before bed.

Thursday – Recovery day

Morning

Take 1 PsoriaStop capsule after breakfast and assess the skin's reaction to Wednesday's treatment.

Skin care and recovery

No NB-UVB treatment. Apply Psoriva Oil two or three times as needed. Do not treat skin that remains clearly red, feels hot, painful or irritated.

Evening

Continue your usual evening skin-care and prescribed treatment routine.

Friday – Session 3

Morning

Take 1 PsoriaStop capsule after breakfast. Apply Psoriva Oil earlier in the day if needed.

Skin care and NB-UVB

Apply a thin layer of Psoriva Oil 30 minutes before treatment. Choose the exposure time according to Wednesday's skin reaction. Increase it by 20 seconds only if the skin did not become red and no erythema developed after the previous treatment.

Evening

If the plaques feel dry or tight after treatment, apply Psoriva Oil. Use prescribed topical treatment separately before bed.

Saturday – Recovery day

Morning

Take 1 PsoriaStop capsule after breakfast and check the skin's reaction to Friday's treatment.

Skin care and recovery

No NB-UVB treatment. Use Psoriva Oil regularly and allow the treated skin to recover completely.

Evening

Continue your usual evening routine and prescribed treatment if applicable.

Sunday – Routine care and review

Morning

Take 1 PsoriaStop capsule after breakfast.

Skin care and review

No NB-UVB treatment. Continue applying Psoriva Oil as needed.

Evening

Apply your evening products as usual. Prepare to repeat the same three-session routine during the following week.

Home phototherapy

Preparing for your UVB treatment

  1. Apply Psoriva Oil 30 minutes before treatment. Use a thin layer and massage it thoroughly into the plaque.
  2. Connect the mains lead and switch on the UVB lamp.
  3. Initial exposure time (first session):
    • Adults: 30 seconds
    • Children: 15 seconds

Dose adjustment

Directions for ongoing UVB phototherapy

  • Use light treatment 2–3 times per week and leave at least 48 hours between individual UVB sessions.
  • Gradually increase the exposure time by 20 seconds when no redness occurred after the previous treatment.
  • The desired skin reaction (erythema – mild redness) typically appears approximately 6–8 hours after UVB exposure.
  • Only carry out the next UVB session once any redness from the previous dose has completely disappeared and the skin has fully recovered.

A typical exposure time for one treatment area is approximately 3–4 minutes, depending on skin type.

What happens after the first month?

Continue NB-UVB two or three times weekly according to your treatment plan. Three weekly sessions may produce improvement more quickly, while two weekly sessions may be easier to maintain over the longer term.

Continue daily moisturising and prescribed treatment. Review your progress regularly and speak to your doctor if the plaques are worsening, treatment is poorly tolerated or you do not notice meaningful improvement.

How to assess your treatment response

When can you expect the first results and what does improvement look like?

With psoriasis, it is important to assess changes in the skin over several weeks rather than judging treatment after only one or two applications. With regular NB-UVB phototherapy, the first objective signs of response may begin to appear after approximately 12 treatments. Psoriasis plaques may gradually become thinner and flatter, scaling may decrease, itching can improve and inflammatory redness may become less pronounced.

More noticeable clinical improvement is often assessed after approximately 12–24 treatments. With three sessions per week, this corresponds to approximately 4–8 weeks of regular treatment. Some people require a longer treatment course, and the best response may continue to develop after around 30 sessions or later.

First signs of response

Less scaling, a softer surface to the plaques, gradual thinning and less tightness or itching.

Good clinical response

Plaques gradually flatten and become thinner, scaling becomes less pronounced and inflammatory redness progressively fades.

The overall trend matters

A slower response does not automatically mean that treatment is not working. Response can depend on the type and thickness of the plaques, their location, skin type and how consistently treatment is followed.

Gradual thinning of the plaques and reduced scaling are already positive signs. The aim of treatment is not to cause strong redness or burn the skin, but to achieve a controlled and gradual reduction in inflammatory activity, thickness and extent of psoriasis plaques. With a correctly managed and consistent routine, the clinical effect can continue to build over the following weeks.
