Vitistop Self-Tanning Mousse
Natural-looking cosmetic camouflage that typically lasts 5–7 days
Vitistop Self-Tanning Mousse has been selected specifically for people who want to make depigmented vitiligo areas less visible without relying on daily make-up. The mousse gradually develops colour in the skin and helps bring lighter patches closer to the tone of the surrounding skin.
Unlike an instant wash-off camouflage, the developed colour normally remains visible for several days and gradually fades with the natural skin cycle. The average result lasts approximately 5–7 days, although individual results vary depending on skin type and aftercare.
Perfect for anyone who wants to cover vitiligo naturally
One application, days of even-looking skin – no daily make-up routine.
Made for tanning. Selected by us for vitiligo camouflage.
Standard self-tanning products are normally marketed for creating an overall tan. At VitiligoShop, our aim is different: we use the colour selectively to reduce the visual contrast between depigmented and normally pigmented skin.
This coloured mousse is particularly useful for vitiligo because the temporary guide colour allows you to see exactly where the product has been placed. This makes precise application and blending around irregular patch borders considerably easier than with a completely clear self-tanner.
Apply once. Enjoy the colour for days.
The mousse requires approximately 6–8 hours to develop. During this development period, the treated skin should not come into contact with water.
After development, rinse away the temporary guide colour. Normal contact with water is then fine. The developed colour typically lasts around 5–7 days before gradually fading.
Choose your shade
Match the mousse to the colour of the normally pigmented skin surrounding your vitiligo, rather than to the white patch itself. If you are unsure between two shades, we recommend starting with the lighter option.
For fair and pale surrounding skin tones and subtle camouflage.
A versatile choice for light-to-medium surrounding skin tones.
For naturally deeper or more tanned surrounding skin.
For deeper surrounding skin tones requiring greater colour depth.
How to apply it for vitiligo
The technique is just as important as choosing the correct shade.
For the smoothest result, exfoliate the area beforehand and apply the mousse to clean, completely dry skin. Avoid heavy creams or oils immediately before application as they can make blending less even.
Dispense a small amount of mousse onto the Vitistop Velvet Application Mitt for larger areas, or the Vitistop Mini Mitt for the face, hands and small patches. Using a mitt helps spread the mousse evenly and reduces staining of the hands.
For vitiligo camouflage, the aim is not necessarily to tan the whole area. Begin by applying a thin, even layer primarily over the depigmented skin.
As you reach the border of the patch, use the small amount remaining on the mitt to softly feather the product onto the surrounding normally pigmented skin. This avoids a sharp artificial-looking edge and creates a smoother transition.
The mousse contains a visible guide colour, so you can immediately see which areas have been covered and where additional blending may be needed. The guide colour is not the final result.
Leave the product on the skin for approximately 6–8 hours. Do not wash the treated area or allow it to come into contact with water during this time.
After the development period, rinse away the temporary guide colour. The remaining developed colour is the actual camouflage result.
Vitiligo patches can require a different amount of colour depending on the contrast with the surrounding skin. It is usually better to begin with a lighter result and add another thin application if more depth is required.
Our tip for the most natural result
Do not try to make every vitiligo patch completely identical to the surrounding skin in one heavy application. Thin layers and softly blended borders generally look much more natural. Start conservatively, allow the colour to develop fully, then decide whether a second application is needed.

Frequently asked questions
On average approximately 5–7 days. Longevity varies from person to person and depends on skin care and how quickly the colour naturally fades.
Water must be avoided during the initial 6–8 hour development period. Once the product has developed and the guide colour has been rinsed away, normal contact with water is fine.
For camouflage, start mainly on the depigmented areas and gently blend the edges into the surrounding skin. Applying the same heavy layer over the whole area can unnecessarily deepen the colour of normally pigmented skin as well.
The mousse can be used on the face, but apply it sparingly and blend carefully, particularly around the hairline, eyebrows and edges of vitiligo patches.
No. This is a cosmetic self-tanning product designed to temporarily reduce the visible contrast between depigmented and surrounding skin. It does not treat the underlying cause of vitiligo.
