In Norma’s words
“I only wish I had found them sooner”
I was diagnosed with vitiligo at the beginning of the pandemic after noticing a tiny white patch just below my hairline. By the time I saw a dermatologist five months later, vitiligo had spread across much of my body.
I later completed one year of hospital NB-UVB treatment. Many areas began to repigment, but the treatment ended while I was still left with extensive patching. I tried many different approaches, including products from India, Australia and France, before finding VitiligoShop.
As a Black woman, I initially wondered whether the products would work for me because I did not see many people with skin like mine represented in treatment photographs. Vitiligo affects every skin tone, but on darker skin the contrast can be especially visible. I covered my neck and arms with high collars and long sleeves, even in summer.
I began with Vitistop Gel and later added VitiPro Gel and Vitistop vitamins. I used the gels consistently alongside light treatment or controlled sunshine. I also worked with healthcare professionals on my thyroid health.
I am now seeing repigmenting dots and patches appearing across my hands and arms. Areas that were once only large white patches are gradually filling with pigment again. I feel hopeful that one day I may look more like I did before the pandemic.
From my personal experience, the gels used consistently alongside light treatment or sunshine have made a real difference. I only wish I had found them sooner. Thank you, Peter and the VitiligoShop team, for continuing this work. Please dont share my face.
